The TSKgel Amide-80 column can effectively analyze Dicyandiamide in fertilizers using a mobile phase consisting of Acetonitrile and Methanol.
Figure 1 (below) shows the chromatogram of a Dicyandiamide standard using a mobile phase ratio of Acetonitrile/Methanol = 6/1. When the proportion of methanol in the mobile phase is increased, the sample peak elutes faster; conversely, a lower proportion of methanol results in a later elution time.
Figure 2 (below) displays the analytical chromatogram of a fertilizer containing Dicyandiamide. The sample preparation method is as follows:
Weighing: Weigh 0.1g of the sample and place it into a 20ml sample vial.
Extraction: Add 10ml of Methanol to the vial. Shake vigorously for 10 minutes, then allow it to stand and settle.
Filtration & Dilution: Filter the supernatant through a 0.45μm membrane. Dilute the filtrate 100-fold with the mobile phase before injection.
